#GIRLBOSS 101

FRESH-2

#GIRLBOSS = someone who is “in charge of her own life”

Are YOU in charge of your own life? If not, here is some advice I can give that had helped me transform into the #GIRLBOSS that I am today.

First I would like to start off by addressing that I do live by and recognize myself as a #GIRLBOSS but that does not mean that I am done with my journey to help me grow and evolve into an even better #GIRLBOSS. Everyone has different experiences or goals that make them “in charge of her own life”.

TIP #1: POSITIVITY IS KEY

I have noticed a huge change in my outlook on life itself. After reading a lot of inspirational books, blogs, and just being aware of my anxiety; I realize that you can’t be successful if you are negative about your life. Even though there may be times that you feel like the world is coming down on you, just look for the positivities in a situation. If you turn everything into a positive, the negative energy that likes to bring everyone down will cloud your judgement and goals.

TIP #2: JUST DO IT

Nothing in this world is stopping you, besides you. Although there be some bumps in the road like, not having enough money, wanting to leave your current job but feeling stuck, or  even thinking that there is “not enough time in the day”. All  of those things are just excuses that can be changed in a short amount of time if you just set your mind to achieving your goals and not settling for anything less.

TIP #3DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK

Ask friends, ask your mentors, ask old college professors, ask questions to whoever is going to help you get where you want to be. The more knowledge you gain about a position that you want, the better you will do in an interview. The more information you get from someone who has done what you want to do, will benefit you in the long run.

TIP #4: AND ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR PASSIONS

I think this tip speaks for itself. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS, let your passions be your first priority. Don’t let anything get in the way that might hinder your following what makes you happy. Strive for it because your passions make you, who you are and no one can take that away from you.

Pixie Pants and Tory Burch flats

Being a woman and transitioning from school girl to a #GIRLBOSS is sometimes difficult when looking for cute business attire. So here are some of my favorite stores that make even the most plain business attire, stand out!

My favorite stores to buy business attire on a budget:

  • Old Navy
    • Pixie Pants are affordable and great business pants.
  • H&M
    • I got my favorite blazer for $10 from here. They always have random item deals so keep an eye out!
  • Steve Madden
    • I have some great nude pumps that add a little sass to my business clothes.
  • Zara
    • A great spot for plain tops or even a cute blouse with patch work, embellishing, and so much more to add a some jazz to a top.
  • TJ Maxx
    • Sometimes a hit or miss but always check out the TJ Maxx business section!

Now that you have the mindset and attire to be a #GIRLBOSS, here are some key items you need to network or land your dream job!

MUST HAVE BUSINESS CARDS!

I got mine from zazzle.com. They usually start at 100 copies for about $25 and best thing about it, is that if you don’t like how they turned out you can return them!

A BOMB RESUME LAYOUT!

There are so many resources to make your resume stand out like canva.com. It’s super user friendly and affordable.

A MINI BOOKLET!

These little things are great to write little notes down when your networking.

AND A PADFOLIO!

I snagged mine from TJ Maxx and I love it because it’s different from your typical leather padfolio.

I wanted to end this post by thanking Sophia Amoruso for inspiring me to write this post. Without reading #GIRLBOSS I would not have the confidence that I have today to follow my dreams, and to push for what I want in life!
