Port(land) of Vegan Cuisine

on

Hello! I am finally back after a very long semester and a much needed vacation. If you follow me on Instagram then you saw my adventure with my boyfriend Max in Portland, Oregon.

Portland, Oregon is the land where all vegans must go. Almost every restaurant has a vegan option besides a boring salad. So I wanted to do a little review for you all about the restaurants that we went to.

Sweetpea Baking Co.

STATIONEY-5

After getting off my early flight I stopped at the very first vegan mini mall! This mini mall has Sweetpea, Herbivore Clothing, Food Fight (the first vegan grocery store) and Scapegoat Tattoo. I stopped in Sweetpea Baking Co. and got TLT (Tempeh, Lettuce, and Tomato). It was so good and it was a great start to this adventure. Sweetpea is also a great place to grab a coffee and pastry in the morning. Later during the trip I picked up an Almond Ring for breakfast. YUM!

Century

STATIONEY-2

Later that night I was craving tacos. At Century, they had many vegan options. Even their house sour cream was vegan! I tried their Crunchwrap and it was amazing. That Crunchwrap brought back memories from my middle school days when hanging out at the local Taco Bell was cool. Century was such a cozy spot. The lighting was great, the menu was small but had many great choices. I would definitely go there again!

Portland Roasting Coffee

STATIONEY-4

The next morning Max and I were the only people awake in Portland before 11AM, (If you watch Portlandia then you know what I’m talking about) so we decided to grab some coffee from Portland Roasting Coffee to start our day off right! Max got their Nitro Brew and I got a Chai Latte with almond milk. The person working was so welcoming and it totally set the mood for our whole trip!

Portland Saturday Market

Every Saturday and Sunday, Old Town Portland has a market with food, artist, and so much more. It was really nice to see what Portlanders do on their weekends. The Portland Saturday Market is open from 10AM – 5PM on Saturday and 11AM – 4:30PM on Sunday. After doing some exploring of the downtown area we stopped to grab a falafel wrap. The portion of the falafels were so big but satisfying.

Voodoo Doughnut

STATIONEY-3

Voodoo Doughnut has always been on my Food Bucket List! Surprisingly we did not have to wait in line! I heard people usually wait 20 minutes to just go inside. The first time we went, I got a jelly filled donut and Max got their custard filled donut. Both were so tasty but before coming back home I knew we needed to go there again. This time Max got their Voodoo Doll donut which was blackberry jelly filled and an Oreo yeast donut. I got the custard filled and a yeast donut with chocolate frosting. Obviously they were all amazing.

The Meadow

STATIONEY-6

I have a huge sweet tooth so when I saw this gourmet chocolate store, I knew we had to walk in. They had chocolates imported from Europe and so many items made right in Portland! Pictured below is a chocolate bar made with coconut milk and peanut butter toffee and a bar that’s a vegan version of a Butterfinger! The popcorn is their specialty truffle oil popcorn they make daily! Not only was this store aesthetically pleasing but the service was great too. The woman who rang us up gave us recommendations of other areas that we should check out in Portland such as 23rd St and the Pittock Mansion. 10/10 would go to The Meadow again!

Vtopia All Vegan Restaurant & Cheese Shop

STATIONEY-7

After a long day of exploring Mississippi St, Powell’s Books, and so much more, we needed something to snack on so we ordered in a cheese plate and caprese salad. The caprese salad was my favorite from Vtopia. It tasted just like dairy mozzarella!

Ristretto Roasters

STATIONEY-8

I always crave matcha lattes so I was very excited when we found a coffee shop that had them! I usually get mine with almond milk and half sweet. This latte from Ristretto Roasters was delicious and gave me my energy for another busy day of exploring!

Blossoming Lotus

STATIONEY-9

I could honestly talk about Blossoming Lotus for days. As we were eating our breakfast Max said “how is it honey?” and I look at him and say “This is phenomenal”. I got their pancakes with coconut whipped cream and caramelized apples with a side of biscuits and gravy. Max got a smoothie bowl and a side of house potatoes. Everything about this meal was unforgettable. The service was comforting and its hard to describe how good this food was because it was THAT good. If you are ever in Portland make sure Blossoming Lotus is your first stop.

Sizzle Pie

STATIONEY-10

There are a few Sizzle Pies around Portland but we stopped at the one across from the famous Powell’s book, which by the way is a must! You can either order a whole pizza or they have special pieces by the slice at Sizzle Pie. I can’t remember what Max and I got but whatever it was, it hit the spot!

Cruz Room

STATIONEY-12

The Cruz Room is spot that you must to go when you’re on, Alberta St. These tacos were not only amazing but the price was just right. During their Happy Hour, the tacos are half off! I got the CAN’T BAHN MI LOVE, SUNDAY PASTIME, and HALF BAKED. The HALF BAKED had a deep fried mac and cheese ball and it was so good I ordered another. Yes I ate 4 tacos and I am not ashamed!!

Good | A Coffee Company

STATIONEY-13.jpg

This coffee was for sure my favorite coffee shop that we stopped at! I got one of their specials which had espresso, apple, and gram cracker. It had a pretty interesting taste and gave me a GOOD coffee buzz! There are 3 locations in Portland so make sure you check one of them out.

Virtuous Pie

STATIONEY-14

Virtuous Pie had the best atmosphere. They are actually known for being the one most aesthetically pleasing places in Portland. But the atmosphere cant even compete with the food. This pizza is now one of my top favorite vegan pizzas. They sale by the slice or you can order a whole pie. Max and I wanted to try all of their slices so we got the Margarita, Ultraviolet, Southern Belle, and the Grandma Pie. Max’s favorite was the Ultraviolet and mine was the Southern Belle but all of the slices were amazing, we went for seconds and got their Donuts and Coffee flavored ice cream!

Little Big Burger

On our last night in Portland we grabbed sushi on Mississippi St and went to The Meadows one last time so I could grab some chocolate bars to take home! After doing some shopping on Mississippi we grabbed truffle fries from Little Big Burger. These fries were so good and its nice because there are a lot of LBB around Portland!
